I’m Chris Dwan. I focus on data and computing strategies for the life sciences, biotechnology, and genomics.
Dwan is something of a ditz compared to Ann and is more of a slut than Ann. She is outspoken, naive, talkative and excitable, as well as melodramatic. She was terrified of King Kong, but despite this she didn't have any ill will against him and would even take (futile) action to prevent him from getting harmed. Dwan is also associated with the Triton Series, which is a high buy-in tournament tour that heavily features Short Deck poker, which is a game that Dwan has professed his live for. The Triton Series travels to places such as Macau and Montenegro, and Dwan frequently makes appearances in these tournaments.
Over the last 20 years, I’ve worked on some of the most challenging large-scale problems in my field. My experience includes leadership roles at both the New York Genome Center and at the Broad Institute, as well as nearly a decade with BioTeam. Since going independent in early 2017, I have served startups in diagnostics and therapeutics, pharmaceuticals, hospital systems, universities, and even worked with NASA.
Part of the reason that I choose an independent path is my desire to always go where the fires are hottest. I want to seek out the most interesting problems and the places where I can have the greatest impact. Genomic technologies are beginning to translate into therapies. Touch screen gambling machines. They are, ever so slowly, changing the way we provide clinical care. Over time, this will lead to more precise, personalized treatment plans – which really ought to lead to longer, healthier lives and also to lower overall medical spending. We’re not there yet. I want to help the whole industry move faster.
My consulting practice combines a broad technical expertise with relentless focus. My skills in problem solving and communication have been honed through more than 20 years working at the intersection of computing, data, and science. My goal as an engineer and a leader is to build systems and teams that will outlast and exceed me.
